The names sound literary – Commodore Keats Sparrow, Vice Commodore Bob “Sea Tut” Tuttle, Captain Jim “Jet Lag” Gibson, and Captain King Bostrum. The characters are very much real, and they comprise the founding fathers of the Cape Lookout Yacht Club, formed in 2003. The idea for the club was launched over late-night cocktails. According to “Sea Tut” it all started out as a lark, and today our members will attest in some respects it still is. One newcomer to the club said it best, “You know it’s a yacht club that doesn’t take itself too seriously when the commodore has an 18-foot boat.” The “yachts” may not be on such a grand scale, but the good times and “fish tales” shared by our members certainly have grown epic over the years.
